>Dutch tax autorities will tax our gold in Swiss vaults as well
This is another downside with paying someone to "store" your gold and silver. Detailed records make tracking and taxing easy.
I also expect authorities to enact "emergency measures" to seize precious metals held in centralized vaults. I don't expect they will ever go door to door so long as one doesn't share their stack info online or with their neighbors or fair weather friends. The juice isn't worth the squeeze to send a 10 man search team to spend a day tearing someone's house apart only to find nothing. Tip offs from ex-wives/girlfriends and ex-friends are what one needs to worry about.

In the immediate aftermath of a disruption, physical cash is still king, and people should keep an appropriate amount (relative to one's needs) of fiat at home.
It is better to NOT need to go buy groceries when there is a short term crisis. One should have at least 30-60 days of staples in-house, including small luxuries like canned peaches, jam/crackers and instant pudding/jello.
Alcohol/cigarettes and/or canned tobacco also make great trade goods or gifts to thank neighbors who do small favors, even if one does not smoke or drink oneself.

I didn't hear about Internet outage, but the thing about card services being offline has happened before when I was at Lidl. Also more recently they had one register marked "cash only" because the card reader was broken. And their computer shit is flakey and crashes when it gets hot in the summer, or just reboots itself whenever it feels like it. xD

France apparently has more serious problems than flaky internet: France is heading into a debt spiral.
>Isn’t this funny? It also explains the lack of political will for long-overdue reforms in France. Only one in three French people works in the real economy, two-thirds live, one way or another, off other people’s taxes. They won’t vote for politicians who say France’s absurd pensions and overblown state spending are unsustainable, they vote for those who promise to lower the already low retirement age even further.
>France is cooked. There will be no serious reforms. Higher interest spending will accelerate the rise in the debt/GDP ratio. France is heading into a debt crisis that will hit the entire eurozone. The ECB will, as always, bend the rules and its mandate and start printing money again, making savers and pensioners across Europe much poorer. The situation is so bad that no nice options remain.

The major Saudi attack backed by 100 aircraft (half of the Saudi airforce) has sputtered, more Saudi airports and oil infrastructure have been attacked, Iran is still blasting ships in the Hormuz, and Trump has signed an Exec order to allow dyed diesel to be used on the highways. Apparently, the fuel oil used for heating in N.E. US is a slightly lower grade of dyed diesel.
Diesel/jet fuel will not be coming down in price anytime soon, and the silence about the dwindling reserves speaks loudly. The EU better pray for a mild winter.
The US dollar/US Treasuries are no longer safe as a long term reserve asset. The world is moving towards a gold based reserve asset system backed by the use of both the $USD and the Yuan to conduct transactions.

Very cool, thanks. Some remote viewers are frighteningly skilled, especially the ones who get results from "blind" queries. Ie, they are told to RV the subject described in a note in a sealed envelope that they've never seen.
The strangest one was where some remote viewers were only given coordinates and a time in the distant past and they described an advanced civilization that was destroyed by nuclear weapons, and the coordinates were for the planet Mars.

Isotopic Ag–Cu–Pb record of silver circulation through 16th–18th century Spain
>Estimating global fluxes of precious metals is key to understanding early monetary systems. This work adds silver (Ag) to the metals (Pb and Cu) used so far to trace the provenance of coinage through variations in isotopic abundances. Silver, copper, and lead isotopes were measured in 91 coins from the East Mediterranean Antiquity and Roman world, medieval western Europe, 16th–18th century Spain, Mexico, and the Andes and show a great potential for provenance studies. Pre-1492 European silver can be distinguished from Mexican and Andean metal. European silver dominated Spanish coinage until Philip III, but had, 80 y later after the reign of Philip V, been flushed from the monetary mass and replaced by Mexican silver.

I was listening to George Gammon tonight talking about bond yields and the US dollar, and it's clear he's a firm believer in Brent Johnson's "dollar milkshake" theory.
https://youtu.be/HHF9MtXmmbA
Gammon gave a very convoluted explanation of how bonds work relative to the US debt/deficit, but he completely omitted fundamental issues looming over the $USD:
1. Every percentage point increase in US bonds eventually results in a $400 billion annual interest cost increase. Ie, the US government CANNOT tolerate bond yields of 15% because interest would consume over 100% of federal revenues.
2. Boomer entitlements have a net present value of between $100-$200 trillion, and there is no money saved.
3. The $USD may be the cleanest dirty shirt in the laundry hamper, but how many people/orgs/institutional investors will accept a 70%-90+% haircut in their real purchasing power while getting paid a couple percent interest?
What worked for the last 46 years (the USA devalued the $USD 70% from 1970-1980) will not work in %currentyear%. The $USD may be the most "convenient" currency for international trade, but treasuries will be useless as a reserve asset if they aren't a store of value relative to essential commodities like energy and copper. The $USD currently accounts for 88% of global foreign exchange transactions, 58% of global foreign exchange reserves, and 54% of global trade.
Countries are already buying gold in preference to US Treasuries. This trend will only escalate as the $USD loses value. I hope a trustworthy international repository network offering redeemable tokenized gold will unseat the US dollar hegemony.
Why would anyone want to put up with US bullshit (they might freeze your assets if you don't paint gay crosswalks) when they have a options not subject to US control?

You are correct. Gold and silver have been wealth for longer than we have had written language. Humans appear to be genetically predisposed towards the beauty of gold and silver.
It still be the case after the last fiat dies. Vampiric system is really a good metaphor. Inflation silently sucks the fruits of working people's lifeblood, draining their purchasing power and ultimately their life savings.

Gold and silver are timeless.
>In 2003, archaeologists discovered an extraordinary 2,000-year-old Celtic gold coin hoard hidden inside a hollow cow bone at Sedgeford in Norfolk, England.
>The remarkable find contained gold Gallo-Belgic staters dating to around 60–50 BC, originally minted in ancient Gaul, in present-day France. The coins had been carefully concealed inside a cow's upper leg bone, creating an unusual hiding place for valuable treasure.
>Researchers believe the bone may have been used to hide or transport the gold discreetly, although the exact reason remains unknown. The discovery offers fascinating evidence of the wealth and trade connections between Iron Age Britain and continental Europe, revealing an extraordinary method of protecting valuables more than 2,000 years ago.

Loss is purchasing power of various fiat currencies since 1971. I presume this chart uses standard inflation data which understates the level of real devaluation.

If they make the slices thin enough, people don't immediately notice that someone is stealing their salami.
If inflation is low enough, most normies won't get too upset by the loss of their purchasing power. Over a period of years, it results in a greater than 99% loss of purchasing power.

As I was saying to my better half today after going through half a dozen confirmation steps (including THREE 2FA using different modes) to do a single BTC transfer, if someone wants to steal our metal, they have to do survellance, know when we are transporting, and intercept when we are vulnerable. Very high risk, very expensive, not feasible for someone who does active countersurveillance.
Theft from crypto wallets/exchanges can be automated and done remotely with little or no risk, for extremely high reward. I would not be surprised if state actors like Mossad or North Korea are involved in some of these crypto hacks.

> are they still making new coins for that series?
Not that I'm aware. Here's the list of the rounds they made and their mintage.
https://blog.providentmetals.com/zombucks-final-mintage-announcement.htm
Zombucks are a cute novelty like the Cheesed rounds. We nearly always buy the lowest premium metal, with a mix of generic rounds and random bars depending on how we feel.
One day we bought some tubes of the cheapest generic rounds and they contained some "collectables".
What George Gammon missed when he went to Argentina and tried to use a gold Eagle for barter, was that relative to the Argentine peso, the $USD is a stable currency and the most commonly used liquid store of value not only in Argentina, but in many countries that have high inflation. The $USD is useful because it is counterfeit resistant, recognizable, and very liquid internationally.
https://youtu.be/3s4Fx9U_kAE
What will Argentines use as a store of value when (not if) the $USD shits the bed?
I believe Gammon is trying to build the case that the dollar milkshake theory works now and will continue to work in the future. I disagree and believe that ANY world reserve fiat currency will always eventually fail, and the the world will then fall back to gold and silver, and the cycle will eventually begin all over again, because physical gold and silver aren't convenient for large volumes of international trade because of the need to assay/verify, especially with larger bars.
I would like to see the same test done using silver Eagles. Argentina is named after silver.
