The Pentagon’s smallest service is trying to rebuild its civilian workforce following the Trump administration’s push to slash federal jobs.

The Space Force wants its civilian employees to embrace their identity as guardians, adding new training and professional development in pursuit of a shared service culture.

“There are going to be times where you’re going to be the only guardian in the room,” Chief of Space Operations Gen. Doug Schiess said Wednesday at an event hosted by the Air and Space Forces Association.

“They’re going to look at you … and go, ‘You’re a guardian. Can you help me with my problems?’”

“They’re not caring what you’ve done before, so we’ve got to make sure that you know what it’s like to be a guardian first,” he said.

The service could follow a similar path as it created for uniformed troops. That approach aims to create well-rounded service members with experience in acquisition and operations alike, rather than spending a career focused on one area.

Because Space Force civilians are technically employed by the broader Department of the Air Force, Schiess said, they may work for the Air Force before moving to the new service.

The Space Force now offers courses to show civilian workers how the sister services differ and to forge a stronger sense of belonging in the nearly 7-year-old organization.

The service is also mulling what professional military education civilian guardians may need in the future, and how it might dovetail with the training troops receive as they rise through the ranks.

Employees can already sharpen their leadership, management and national security skills through Air Force-run schools like the Air War College and Air Command and Staff College.

As part of that effort, the Space Force is considering creating a new role to support the service as part of the Department of the Air Force’s secretariat staff, a move that would give civilian guardians a greater voice in high-level discussions on workforce needs and quality of life.

Schiess said Wednesday the service is looking at what experience that official may need to “thoroughly know the Space Force” and represent it alongside other senior leaders.

It’s unclear how the position would differ from that of the assistant secretary for space acquisition and integration, which is already part of the Air Force secretariat.

Civilians make up about one-third of the Space Force, more than in any other branch of the military. The Pentagon’s smallest service is trying to rebuild that workforce following the Trump administration’s push to slash federal jobs.

The service is asking Congress to fund around 7,200 civilian jobs in 2027, a 40% bump over 2026, to staff a burgeoning slate of missions from communications relay to missile warning to offensive cyber operations.

Schiess indicated that adding civilians would help the service grow the component organizations that provide spacepower to combat commands around the world. That plan partially depends on congressional cooperation in the years ahead.

The service has requested more than $71 billion for fiscal 2027. Though lawmakers may differ on how to pursue military space operations, Schiess said, “no one’s really pushed back on the stuff that we need.”

“We’re gonna add 2,800 guardians and 2,000 civilians in ‘27 if the budget comes through,” he said. “Those will be put across [the service] as we bring on new capabilities for weapon systems, but also, a lot of that will go into our components.”

Democratic control of Congress could complicate efforts to negotiate a settlement in Ukraine and create new obstacles to dialogue with Moscow, Russian experts have warned following the Republicans’ crushing defeat in the US midterm elections.

The Republicans lost control of both chambers on Tuesday, with the new Congress set to take office on January 3.

Until then, President Donald Trump has nearly two months to pursue diplomatic agreements before facing a legislature expected to challenge his policies and investigate his administration.

Losing Congress, however, does not strip Trump of his foreign-policy powers, and some experts believe domestic gridlock could prompt him to become more active abroad.

Ukraine as a bargaining chip

Ukraine aid and relations with Moscow could become bargaining chips in battles over Trump’s domestic priorities, according to Victoria Zhuravleva, deputy director of the Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations and head of its North American studies center.

Democrats could demand additional funding for Kiev and restrictions on contacts with Russia, offering to preserve spending on Trump’s immigration programs in exchange, she told Interfax.

US affairs analyst Malek Dudakov similarly warned that negotiations with Russia would become harder because Trump would approach them “in a very weakened position.”

The new Congress could also seek to influence the terms of a settlement, Dmitry Novikov, an associate professor at the Higher School of Economics, told Vedomosti.

Democrats could try to write additional military and economic commitments to Kiev into legislation on US security guarantees for Ukraine, he explained.

Celebrations in Kiev may be premature

Russian experts, however, cautioned against assuming that Democratic control of Congress would automatically reverse Washington’s course toward Moscow.

Trump would retain his veto power, even if Democrats push for tougher sanctions on Moscow and more military aid to Kiev, Ivan Pyatibratov, a political analyst and associate professor at the Financial University, said.

Dialogue with Moscow could become more difficult, he argued, but would not necessarily be abandoned.

Political analyst Ivan Mezyukho suggested the midterm defeat could spur Trump to intensify Ukraine peace efforts just to spite and outmaneuver the Democrats.

If they push for new arms deliveries while his administration pursues negotiations, Trump could accuse them of obstructing a diplomatic settlement, he argued.

Kiev, which had backed Democrats in the election, may also be celebrating too soon, political analyst Vladimir Kornilov noted.

He stressed that Kiev shouldn’t expect a friendly Congress to immediately sideline Trump and abruptly change Washington’s position toward Ukraine and Russia.

Ukraine Keeps Hitting Russia’s Drone Infrastructure, Striking Launch Site in Crimea and Depot in Melitopol

Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of strikes against Russian military facilities on November 4 and overnight into November 5, targeting a drone launch site in occupied Crimea, weapons storage facilities, and military support units in the temporarily occupied territories of eastern and southern Ukraine.

Ukraine’s General Staff reported that the operations targeted infrastructure used by Russian forces to store, prepare, and launch attack drones, as well as ammunition depots, logistical facilities, and repair units.

According to the Ukrainian military, one of the primary targets was a Russian facility used to store, prepare, and launch attack drones near Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.

Another strike targeted a Russian UAV storage depot near Melitopol in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Donetsk region, Ukrainian forces struck several facilities supporting Russian military operations, including an ammunition depot near Novoazovsk and a logistics warehouse near Prohres.

Ukrainian strikes also targeted Russian repair and recovery units near Talakivka, which provide maintenance and support for military equipment.

Meanwhile, in the Luhansk region, Ukrainian forces struck a Russian mobile fire group near Dontsivka. The General Staff also reported a strike in the area of Nyzhnia Duvanka, without specifying the type of facility targeted.

The latest operations follow a broader series of Ukrainian medium-range strikes against Russian military infrastructure throughout October 2026, which targeted air defense systems, drone facilities, command posts, and military supply networks.

On November 4, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense released a summary of those operations, detailing the number of Russian military assets and facilities struck during the previous month.

According to data compiled by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian troops targeted 19 Russian air defense, electronic warfare, and radar assets, along with 20 facilities supporting Russian attack drone operations.

The October strikes also included 27 command and observation posts and 47 depots used to store ammunition, fuel, and other military supplies, reflecting the range of Russian military infrastructure targeted by Ukrainian forces.

How is it possible in Wisconsin to have more than 7 million registered voters but only 4 million legal aged adults allowed to legally even register to vote. Almost double the amount of people registered than legal aged voters. This is called voter fraud. The numbers do not add up under any normal population count. Every extra name on the rolls represents a potential ballot that should never have been cast.

Official state data lists total registered voters well above the total adult population of voting age. Citizens of voting age in Wisconsin number around 4 million. Yet the registration lists exceed 7 million. That gap cannot be explained by ordinary moves or deaths. It points to inflated rolls that allow ineligible or duplicate entries to remain active year after year.

State officials must release the full registration files and match every name against citizenship and age records. Voters in Wisconsin deserve clean rolls before the next election. The excess of more than 3 million names is not a clerical error. It is a direct threat to the integrity of every race on the ballot. Clean the lists or accept that the results cannot be trusted.

Gaza City strike on Sunday kills Jamal Abu Saeed, operations chief in terror group’s intelligence arm, who military says held Omer Shem Tov in captivity

Seven Palestinian terror operatives, including a top Hamas commander who held an Israeli hostage, were killed in Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip earlier this week, the military and Shin Bet security agency announced on Wednesday.

One strike on Sunday in Gaza City killed Jamal Abu Saeed, who the Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet said served as chief of operations in Hamas’s military intelligence arm.

“During the war, Abu Saeed held Omer Shem Tov captive on behalf of Hamas,” the joint statement said.

Shem Tov was abducted by Hamas terrorists from the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023, and was returned to Israel as part of a ceasefire-hostage release deal on February 22, 2025.

Abu Saeed held other senior roles in Hamas over the years, including overseeing the training of Hamas operatives outside the Gaza Strip, serving as an anti-tank battalion commander, and being “responsible for military specialization in Hamas’s Central Brigade,” the military said.

Abu Saeed was also “responsible for Hamas’s relations with various countries” and he “served as a significant source of knowledge for the terror organization,” the IDF said.

In another strike on Sunday in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis, four members of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group were killed.

They were identified by the IDF and Shin Bet as Mohammad Zakaria Al-Jamal, a Hamas cell commander; Mohammad Amin Al-Namas, a Hamas operative; Shaher Mohammad Zaarab, commander of a company in Hamas’s elite Nukhba Force; and Mohammad Ali Abu Shaar, an Islamic Jihad sniper operative.

Additionally, separate strikes on Monday in Khan Younis killed Mahmoud Jihad Mohammad Qafa, a commander of a Hamas sniper cell, and Asaad Suleiman Salman Qashta, a member of the Army of Islam faction who “facilitated smuggling into the Gaza Strip,” according to the military.

The IDF said all of the operatives had recently been advancing attacks on troops and Israeli civilians and acted to restore the capabilities of the terror groups, “in systematic violation of the ceasefire.”

Israel in recent months has increasingly targeted operatives in Gaza, including numerous terrorists who took part in the Hamas-led October 7 invasion and massacre, saying they posed a threat to Israeli forces.

According to the military, many of the recent strikes have focused on Hamas operatives involved in building up the terror group’s force and civil control mechanisms in the Strip.

Pakistani security forces launched a major operation in Rawalakot on Thursday morning, targeting key protest sites as tensions escalated in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK).

The operation began around 8 am, shortly after Fajr prayers, with Pakistani Rangers and Frontier Corps personnel, backed by local police, moving against demonstrators involved in the ongoing protests.

According to reports, security forces opened fire as they moved towards the protest sites.

More than 5,000 people had been staging a sit-in at the Rawalakot Bus Terminal since June 9, demanding the implementation of a 38-point charter of demands.

SEVEN KILLED IN INITIAL HOURS

At least seven civilians were reportedly killed and 23 others injured during the first two hours of the operation, between 8 am and 10 am. The reported fatalities have taken the overall death toll linked to the unrest in POK to 153 since June 7.

Reports also claimed that drones were used during the operation, with civilian residential areas coming under attack. One strike reportedly destroyed the home of a local resident, Waseem Shakeel.

Clashes and confrontations continued around Omar Farooq Chowk, where thousands of protesters had gathered.

Women and children were also reportedly involved in confrontations with security personnel, while mosque loudspeakers were used to call residents to the area and urge them to resist the crackdown.

JAAC leader Sardar Umar Nazir displayed what he described as recovered "bomb fragments" in Rawalakot following a reported drone strike on civilian homes and protest sites.

Nazir alleged that drone attacks were being launched from multiple directions around the protest camps and said the situation was continuing to deteriorate.

He appealed to residents to travel to Rawalakot and urged Kashmiris living overseas to speak out against what he described as attacks on peaceful protesters.

WHAT IS BEHIND THE RAWALAKOT PROTESTS?

The latest operation comes after months of unrest linked to the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), which has led protests over political representation, economic rights and the implementation of commitments made by the authorities.

The movement has accused Pakistani authorities of using excessive force against its supporters. Pakistani officials, however, have previously accused the JAAC and its supporters of engaging in violence and attacking security personnel.

The confrontation has turned deadly before. In July, clashes between security forces and JAAC supporters left nine people dead, according to Reuters, which cited officials.

The violence erupted amid tensions over a planned JAAC march and opposition to electoral arrangements in the region.

The Pakistani authorities also banned the JAAC under anti-terrorism laws in June.

The continuing unrest has been accompanied by restrictions on communications in the region, making it difficult to independently verify reports emerging from the affected areas.

That has also created a widening information gap between accounts from protesters and those provided by authorities.

While protesters have accused security forces of launching a violent crackdown, officials have previously alleged that the movement's supporters were involved in attacks on security personnel.

Ukrainian forces have been “hunting” children by scattering mines near schools and kindergartens in the Russian city of Bryansk, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said.

Speaking on Thursday, Zakharova accused Kiev of continuing its “terror against civilians” despite claiming readiness for peace. She cited an overnight attack on October 30, when Ukrainian drones dropped mines near three schools and 17 kindergartens.

”It was only by a lucky coincidence that no minors were hurt,” she said.

Bryansk Region Governor Egor Kovalchuk reported the attack last Friday, saying that drones had scattered numerous explosive devices in the city’s Bezhitsky District. He warned of danger at educational facilities and urged residents to remain indoors while emergency services cleared the area.

Traffic was blocked on several streets as demining teams worked. Footage published by the governor showed a sapper putting a protective vest on a woman stranded in her car and escorting her away from explosive devices lying nearby.

Zakharova stated that Ukrainian leaders cynically present civilian killings to their foreign sponsors as proof that Kiev holds a “strong negotiating position.”

She also accused Ukraine of directing roughly 1,500 drones toward Moscow during the Russia-Africa summit last week, when African leaders were visiting the Russian capital. The attack was suppressed, she said, suggesting that it was intended to signal Vladimir Zelensky’s willingness to continue fighting.

Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon is resigning as head of the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division, telling Fox News Digital exclusively that she made the decision weeks before Republicans' midterm losses and was asked by White House chief of staff Susie Wiles to delay her departure until after the election.

"I wasn't asked to resign," Dhillon told Fox News Digital. "I resigned three weeks ago, and Susie asked me to please wait until after the midterms."

Dhillon formally submitted her resignation on November 5, according to a letter obtained by Fox News Digital.

Dhillon said she informed Wiles three weeks before Election Day that she believed she had "accomplished everything" she came to Washington to do and wanted to return to private practice.

Increasing drone attacks on electricity and fuel infrastructure in Sudan are disrupting essential hospital services and water supplies.

According to AnewZ, the UN is concerned that deepening diplomatic disagreements between Sudan and Ethiopia could fuel wider instability in the region.

UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said on Wednesday that the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights had recorded at least 25 attacks on electricity and fuel infrastructure across 11 Sudanese states over the previous two weeks.

Denise Brown, the UN humanitarian coordinator for Sudan, told UN News on Tuesday that energy and fuel facilities appeared to be systematically targeted in the attacks.

Highlighting the impact on healthcare, Brown said a power outage at a hospital near Khartoum disrupted dialysis treatment for 25 patients. The hospital had neither a backup generator nor solar panels.

Brown said conditions for displaced people in Blue Nile state were worsening and that camp residents were waiting for food aid. “How can I tell people to be patient and wait for food? How is that possible?

They have no money. They left everything behind,” she said.

The humanitarian crisis is also being compounded by a lack of funding.

Only 47% of the funding required for the UN’s humanitarian appeal of about $2.9 billion has been secured, with fewer than two months left in the year.

Sudan and Ethiopia close diplomatic missions

The humanitarian crisis comes as relations between Sudan and neighbouring Ethiopia deteriorate.

The two countries have closed each other’s consulates near their shared border.The move followed mutual accusations that each side was supporting rival forces in the other’s conflict.

Sudan has accused Ethiopia of backing the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), while Addis Ababa has accused Khartoum of assisting rebel groups in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region. Both countries have denied the allegations.

Mutual accusations fuel concern about wider conflict

The diplomatic standoff intensified after Sudan filed complaints against Ethiopia with the UN Security Council and the African Union’s Peace and Security Council.

Khartoum accused Ethiopia of allowing RSF fighters to launch drone attacks on Sudanese civilian infrastructure from Ethiopian territory.

Ethiopia has denied supporting the paramilitary group. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.

In a separate dispute, Ethiopia alleged that Sudan, Egypt and Eritrea had supported Tigrayan rebels who launched an attack against government forces in September. All three countries denied the allegations.

Rising tensions have heightened concerns that the war in Sudan and Ethiopia’s internal conflict could become increasingly intertwined, threatening stability in the Horn of Africa.

The U.S. government stepped up its cartel fighting in Latin America with a new wave of drone strikes. This time, the attacks took place in Venezuela, a country that was a haven for drug cartels.

Former Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro is currently sitting in a U.S. jail awaiting trial on drug charges.

The attack took place over the weekend in a rural part of Venezuela, where the U.S. military used a series of drone strikes to hit cartel operations belonging to the terrorist group National Liberation Army (ELN).

The attack took place in coordination with the Venezuelan military, which moved in to secure the area. The ELN is a guerrilla group that started in Colombia and is considered a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, and other countries.

The group hides under the guise of a leftist freedom-fighting group, but in reality the guerrilla has been behind some of Colombia’s worst terrorist attacks and uses drug trafficking to finance its operations.

According to local news reports, the attack killed up to 20 cartel members. Graphic videos shared on social media capture the aftermath, revealing the bodies of the dead terrorists.

The attack in Venezuela comes as the United States military has been increasing its presence in other countries that were also drug havens, such as Colombia.

The U.S. effort is called the Shield of the Americas, which has recruited over a dozen Latin American countries. Venezuela is the latest to take part in operations all aimed at eradicating cartels.

As Breitbart Texas reported, in other countries, the U.S. military has not only carried out drone strikes, but troops have also carried out joint operations targeting terrorist cartel organizations.

Iran remains an "emerging" space power able to challenge U.S. forces in the Middle East despite American strikes on its key space-related facilities, according to a report by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).

Iran took offensive action against U.S. space capabilities during Operation Epic Fury and has several land-based jamming systems that can degrade satellite-based GPS, the DIA said.

In September, the U.S. Transportation Department warned of "significant" interference to global navigation systems in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran space capabilities alarm US officials

U.S. officials are also concerned about Iran’s use of space-based intelligence to strike military sites more accurately.

"Space is accessible and affordable today," Brig. Gen. Todd Benson, commander of Space Forces Central, said at a Mitchell Institute webinar last month.

"It used to be that you had to be a world power to have any space capability or access to space."

'Space superiority' questioned

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) chief Adm. Brad Cooper said the military achieved “space superiority” over Iran in March after striking the country’s space command. Some analysts doubt the claim given Iran’s persistent electronic warfare and jamming assets.

If Iran can degrade U.S. space capabilities, "we don’t have superiority" over it, said Todd Harrison, an aerospace expert at the American Enterprise Institute.

"Us declaring space superiority in this conflict is kind of like declaring air superiority when the adversary is consistently able to shoot down your planes," he told Axios.

Iran does "have some capabilities that are challenging our use of space," said Kari Bingen, a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, though she noted its assets pale next to those of the U.S., China and Russia.

Small fleet, powerful friends

Iran's Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics launched three satellites into low-Earth orbit in 2024, the first successful flight of its Simorgh rocket, the DIA said.

Iran now has about a dozen operational satellites, according to AEI data, while the U.S. has more than 1,000 times as many.

Iran reportedly bought a Chinese spy satellite that aided ground targeting, according to the Pentagon’s Irregular Warfare Center (IWC). In May, the State Department sanctioned three Chinese entities for "providing satellite imagery that enables Iran’s military strikes."

Russia launched two sensing satellites for Iran in 2022 and 2024, the DIA said, with more Russian-backed launches reported in 2025.

DIA: Prestige and modernization

Iran is pursuing military and civil space programs to "boost its national prestige, economic development, and military modernization," and is "focused on improving guidance and navigation systems resistance to electronic attack," the DIA said.

The report adds to concern in Washington over the Iran space threat as the U.S. weighs its next steps in the war.
