Haunting the Cepheus Flare

Spooky shapes seem to haunt this dusty expanse, drifting through the night in the royal constellation Cepheus. Of course, the shapes are cosmic dust clouds visible in dimly reflected starlight. Far from your own neighborhood, they lurk above the plane of the Milky Way at the edge of the Cepheus Flare molecular cloud complex some 1,200 light-years away. Over 2 light-years across and brighter than most of the other ghostly apparitions, vdB 141 or Sh2-136 is also known as the Ghost Nebula. It lies at lower right in the starry field of view. Inside the Ghost Nebula are reddish telltale signs of dense cores collapsing in the early stages of star formation. With the eerie hue of interstellar dust reflecting bluish light from hot young stars of NGC 7023, the Iris Nebula stands out against the dark just left of center. In the broad telescopic frame, these fertile interstellar dust fields stretch almost six full moons across the sky.

Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs doubled down on his pushback against claims by the Department of Justice that hundreds of noncitizens are registered to vote in the upcoming election.

Hobbs rejected a request by the DOJ to sequester ballots from people it identified as noncitizens on publicly available voter rolls.

“To say that these people are noncitizens or somehow naturalized is completely and utterly untrue," Hobbs told KOMO News in an interview on Thursday. “They’re sending this dumpster fire disguised as a legal document rife with mistakes - they can’t even get the election date right - I’m not going to do anything with this list because it’s garbage.”

Hobbs, however, admitted the state does not check voter rolls against citizenship records and relies on self-disclosure when people are registered to vote.

Maria Bartiromo Lands First Hosting Gig Since Fox News Exit

Maria Bartiromo has landed her first major hosting assignment since leaving Fox News Media in September, signing on to host the America Business Forum in Miami this December.

The former business news anchor will lead the two-day event at the Kaseya Center on Dec. 16 and Dec. 17, organizers announced Thursday. She’ll host conversations with business, political and technology leaders before a live audience, with the forum also broadcast internationally.

The gig puts Bartiromo back in front of an audience more than three months after her sudden Fox departure, though it’s a two-day engagement rather than a new television role. Her next move in TV remains unclear after more than three decades covering Wall Street and politics.

“In over 30 years in this industry, I’ve stood on hundreds of stages. The floor, the studio, the streets. But nothing quite like this,” Bartiromo said in a promotional video released Thursday.

Last year’s America Business Forum featured President Donald Trump, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and soccer star Lionel Messi. The event brings together executives, entrepreneurs and political figures for discussions about business, technology and the global economy. Tickets for this year’s gathering start at $399, with premium packages priced as high as $9,999.

Bartiromo left Fox News Media on Sept. 3 after 12-and-a-half years with the company. Fox described the departure as a “business decision,” while her attorney, Bryan Freedman, disputed reports that she had been fired.

Her exit followed reports that she shared internal Fox Business editorial guidance with Trump adviser Peter Navarro, who later confirmed receiving a screenshot of the guidance. Fox has not publicly connected that disclosure to her departure.

Before leaving, Bartiromo hosted “Mornings With Maria,” “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street” and “Sunday Morning Futures.” She joined Fox in 2014 after two decades at CNBC, where she became the first journalist to report live daily from the New York Stock Exchange floor.

EXCLUSIVE — CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss faced "significant resistance" from staff at Thursday's 9 a.m. meeting about the growing Alaska ballot controversy, network insiders told Fox News Digital.

This is a scandal," Weiss declared to staff.

According to multiple sources on the call, several CBS News staffers pushed back at Weiss' enthusiasm over the bombshell New York Times report alleging Democrats schemed to find a Dan Sullivan to run against incumbent Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan, in hopes of aiding Democratic opponent Mary Peltola.

Many on the call shrugged it off as routine politics and said Republicans have also engaged in similar scheming.

When Weiss asked for other examples of ballot confusion, "Face the Nation" moderator Margaret Brennan pointed to New Hampshire Senate candidate John Sununu, suggesting that midterm voters might confuse him with his brother, former New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu.

CBS News political correspondent Ed O'Keefe also insisted that such tactics are nothing new. Earlier that morning, during his appearance on "CBS Mornings," O'Keefe stressed to viewers that what happened in Alaska "could be a dirty trick, but it's not illegal," adding that "this has happened before, kind of." He pointed to the 2016 Alaska Senate race when former Anchorage mayor Dan Sullivan — no relation to the U.S. Senator of the same name — briefly ran against incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the GOP primary, hoping "name recognition" of the other sitting senator would help his own candidacy.

A separate CBS staffer on the call pushed back against the notion that colleagues like Brennan and O'Keefe were trying to downplay the scandal, telling Fox News Digital they were providing context to the story being discussed…

At this point it’s not funny how this happens. In reality those who follow DC events will note this is almost an exact replay of earlier Lawfare battles surrounding the FISA warrant public release. Same characters, same arguments, same players, same corrupt intents. [Redacted DOJ Filing Here]

In 2017/2018 the issue was corrupt DC interests arguing for the public release of a top secret classified document, the title-1 FISA surveillance warrant used against Carter Page. The warrant was already leaked to the media on March 17, 2017, when the lawfare assembly later wanted to exploit it.

In the 2026 re-run, the issue surrounds the DHS/HSI search warrant executed against Ilhan Omar. The DOJ wants to keep it sealed until the warrant has been fully executed, implying there are alternative parties who have been requested to provide additional information. The Lawfare group want the search warrant details released to the public now so the allied group can organize and exploit public defenses.

Neither the FISA warrant nor a HSI search warrant had/have ever been released prior to full execution therein. DC Judge James Boasberg, a horrible man of intemperate and corrupt disposition, will now decide the release of the latter.

Omar immigrated to the United States from Somalia in 1995, when she was 12 years old. Investigators are examining whether her father misstated her age on his citizenship paperwork in 2000, potentially allowing her to obtain citizenship through him as a minor.

But the fight over whether to unseal the records is being overseen by Chief Judge James Boasberg of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, an Obama appointee and longtime target of Trump.

Michigan Democrat Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed directly solicited support for his campaign inside Islamic centers whose imams and guest speakers called America the “the House of Shaitan [Satan]” and urged Allah to “take the worst revenge upon” Zionists, according to a review of their videotaped services.

Experts said the video evidence, first uncovered by the Middle East Forum and verified by Just the News, could open the door to potential investigations into the nonprofit status of places of worship and provide a stark reminder to voters in the final days of the 2026 election about El-Sayed's ties to other controversial activists, who include Hasan Piker.

El-Sayed is locked in a close contest with former Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., for Michigan's open Senate seat. The contest is expected to be one of the most competitive of the cycle.

Throughout the contest, El-Sayed has taken flak for his ties to Piker, a prominent Twitch streamer who has said America “deserved” 9/11, among other sensational statements. President Donald Trump has called El-Sayed a “terrorist sympathizer.”

The El-Sayed campaign did not respond to a request for comment from Just the News, and has denied his familial relationships to the Muslim Brotherhood and to radical Islam in general, with supporters such as former President Obama calling the issue "Islamophobic."

In March before the Democratic primary, El-Sayed visited the Islamic Center of Detroit, a nonprofit organization that offers both Muslim religious services and engages in charity work in the community.

El-Sayed was welcomed to the pulpit by one of the mosque’s leaders during a Ramadan prayer service, during which he solicited signatures from the congregation so that he could qualify for the Michigan Democratic primary, according to a recording reviewed by Just the News.

The host introduced El-Sayed as “our beloved brother Dr. Abdulrahman,” using his full first name, and El-Sayed spoke to the room in a livestreamed meeting and asked the congregation for their support.

Meeting ended with call for God to take “revenge” upon the Zionists

“I have to get on the ballot to be able to get your vote, inshallah [God willing]. So my team is here in the back. You’ll see us on the outside [...] If you’re a registered voter in the state of Michigan, we need your signature to get on the ballot, so I ask that you’ll give us a signature,” El-Sayed told the congregation. “Please don’t leave here without doing that.”

Later in the same Ramadan livestream, a leader reads the closing supplication in Arabic, which called for God to take “revenge” upon the Zionists and to foil their plans. It is not clear whether El-Sayed was still in attendance when this closing prayer was sung.

“O our Lord, the Zionists have spread corruption in the land. Your forbearance has deceived them, so show them Your power, O Compeller. They killed our brothers and sisters, so take the worst revenge upon them,” the leader sang, according to the video.

“Lie in wait for them, our Lord. Raise no banner for them in the lands of the Muslims [...] and foil their plans in every time and place,” he continued.

The Arabic language prayer was translated independently by the Middle East Forum and confirmed by Just the News using Google’s translation application.

The Islamic Center of Detroit did not respond to a message submitted to its online contact portal.

Lawmaker, experts raise legal concerns over charity laws

El-Sayed's whistle-stop political tour through Muslim nonprofits is already raising legal questions.

Rep. Keith Self, R-Texas, asked the IRS late last month to investigate one Michigan nonprofit that hosted a fundraiser for El-Sayed. “The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) reportedly engaged in prohibited activity on behalf of Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed,” Self wrote on X . “I sent a letter to @SecScottBessent requesting the IRS investigate and complete a full review of ISNA’s tax-exempt status."

J. Christian Adams, a former top Justice Department civil rights and elections lawyer who now runs the Public Interest Legal Foundation, told Just the News that the El-Sayed video clips raise serious legal issues since religious organizations that enjoy 501(c)3 tax-exempt status are prohibited from directly advocating the election or defeat of federal candidates.

But if you're bringing in federal candidates and encouraging your worshippers to vote for these federal candidates in the mosque, that's a problem. You're jeopardizing your tax status," Adams said,

Gregg Roman, the executive director of the Middle East Forum, told Just the News his group reviewed video footage from three dozen Muslim mosques and centers in Michigan and found 938 "extremist" statements. He said some of the groups that hosted such speakers also received taxpayer funds.

"We found $45 million in taxpayer funding that went to nine of these institutions that we identified," Roman said. "And we also were able to find 41 officials from local, county, state, and even the federal government who went to community events at these centers. So one day they're hosting the mayor of Dearborn; the next, the speaker's calling for killing Jews. It's just a juxtaposition that shouldn't work in our democracy."

Islamic Center of Detroit speaker labeled America ‘the House of [Satan]’ and said country was founded on Islamic tradition

Rhetoric calling on “Allah” to commit violence against Zionist Jews and likewise praising terrorists appeared other times at the Islamic Center of Detroit, which hosted El-Sayed and cooperated with his campaign drive.

For example, in March 2024, less than a year after the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel that launched a war in Gaza, a religious leader said there, “O Allah, grant victory to your soldiers, the mujahideen, everywhere. O Allah, grant victory to our oppressed brothers in Gaza,” according to a translation provided by the Middle East Forum.

That same month, leaders of the Islamic Center called on “Allah” to “count [the Zionist aggressors] one by one and kill them all, scattering them, and leave not one of them” and “Tear them apart with every tearing with which You have torn Your enemies, in support of Your allies.” The leaders of that same center would later host El-Sayed, and allow him to use the congregation to collect signatures to get on the Democratic ballot.

In January 2025, Dr. Zulfiqar Shah, an Islamic scholar, told the congregation that as Muslims in the United States they were living in the “House of Shaitan,” or House of Satan.

“So my respected brothers and sisters, I request you, as Muslims living here in America, in the house of Shaitan [...]” Dr. Shah said, before urging them to “reclaim the narrative” and show how the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were ultimately based on Islamic tradition.

Shah is no stranger to controversy. In 2009, the Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT) reported that in 2001 Shah — then president of the Islamic Circle of North America - led a chant at its annual conference saying "Our way, our way, is jihad, jihad," and added that Shah advocated violence in Kashmir. A search by Just the News does not disclose any retraction or correction to that IPT article.

“I’m expecting some rough time during the next four years, so it is important for us to be able and ready to say no, this is not a Christian country, this was not built by the judeo-christian tradition. It was built actually against it. It was built upon the Islamic ideology,” Shah added.

MECCA hosted El-Sayed after its founder said "the Zionists are in full control" of U.S. government

Eleven days before the primary, the imam of another Michigan Islamic center used his Friday sermon to urge worshipers to send El-Sayed to the Senate.

Sayed Saleh Qazwini founded the Muslim Educational Community Center of America (MECCA), a tax-exempt nonprofit in Canton, in 2022. On July 24, he told the congregation that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and “the Zionists” control American politics, then turned to the Senate race, according to the center’s livestream.

“Who was it that pushed for the war with Iraq? Who was it that pushed for the war with Libya? Who is it that pushed for the wars all over the Middle East? AIPAC and the Zionists that are in full control of the government here. Full control of the government here,” Qazwini said.

On March 25, 2026, a Zoom call was held that outlaid the plot against the government. This call was recorded and Data Republican published it in a series of X posts starting on October 19.

The outcome of the 2026 midterms appears to be irrelevant; If the Democrats win one or both chambers of congress, they will declare the color revolution, “the will of the people.” If they lose, they will declare Trump must have cheated.

Nationwide violent protests are planned. Multiple leftist organizations are planning riots in multiple U.S. cities to cause so much unrest and destruction President Trump is forced to invoke the Insurrection Act and call in the military to restore order.

Multiple red lines or triggering events were discussed. As DR outlines in her post on the 19th:

Any effective election fraud investigation

If a new (D) congressmember is delayed being sworn in on Jan 3 due to accusations of cheating

If the blue wave fails to materialize and Republicans win too many elections

If Trump moves against the activist judges

If Trump invokes the insurrection act against violent protestors

Once one of these red lines is crossed, Multiple blue state governors will declare the federal government to be illegitimate, and attempt to call a new constitutional convention and create a new United States government. This will not follow the legal Article V process of calling a convention where 2/3 of the states’ legislatures call for the meeting and vote on constitutional amendments. This will be a handful of blue states trying to forge a communist utopia while in open defiance of federal authority and constitutional law.

We don’t know how many governors are involved, but it has been reported that J.B. Pritzker of Illinois and Gavin Newsom of California have expressed interest.

Balkanization of the United States is an acceptable outcome; the conspirators of this plot don’t necessarily want or need a united Communist government in the USA, multiple micro nations where U.S. states once stood is fine with them.

Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman named NASA JPL Deputy Director days after winning Stephen Hawking medal

Wiseman joined the astronaut corps in 2009 and served on board the ISS for a prolonged spell before flying around the Moon for Artemis II.

Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman has been named in a key leadership role at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), days after winning the prestigious Stephen Hawking Medal.

Wiseman has been appointed as the deputy director, who will be responsible for the strategic leadership, stewardship, and continuous improvement of laboratory operations.

He has also assumed the role of an associate vice president at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and will begin his duties on November 30, 2026.

Notably, Wiseman and Artemis II Pilot Victor Glover have moved away from active spaceflight to an emeritus status to help future astronauts prepare for upcoming missions.

Wiseman is a former U.S. Navy Captain who led the Artemis II mission that launched on April 1.

With Glover and mission specialists Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen, he journeyed 695,081 miles during the lunar flyby—traveling farther from Earth than any humans in history and breaking the distance record set by the Apollo 13 crew in 1970.

He joined NASA’s astronaut corps in 2009 and flew on his first space mission in 2014, serving as a flight engineer aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for Expedition 41 and spending 165 days in space.

Artemis II was his second spaceflight, in which he spent nearly 10 days flying around the Moon and back. Wiseman also once lived in a habitat on the ocean floor for eight days in 2016 while commanding NASA’s 21st Extreme Environment Mission Operations expedition.

“I’ve explored the furthest reaches of what a human can explore at NASA — and there were truly no words in the English vocabulary to describe seeing the Sun disappear behind the Moon from deep space.

But that experience was really the jumping off point to go do the impossible things that Caltech and JPL dream, dare together, and do for NASA and the nation,” Wiseman said after his appointment.

This comes just days after he won the Stephen Hawking Medal for Science Communication at the Starmus VIII festival alongside his crewmates Glover, Hansen, and Koch. Apart from Wiseman, Koch has also taken on a key leadership role at NASA.

Earlier this month, she was announced as the acting deputy chief engineer at the agency to fill in for the incumbent Katherine Van Hooser. Koch will begin her service on November 1, and she will oversee the engineering and technical aspects of the agency's projects and programs.

NASA’s Voyager 1 Conserves Power, Resolves Brief Communications Pause

NASA’s Voyager team is celebrating two recent developments with the Voyager 1 spacecraft: In September, they successfully completed a months-long effort to stretch the spacecraft’s diminishing power supply.

Then, on Oct. 20, an unexpected loss of communication with the spacecraft resolved itself after 48 hours, before the team sent commands to the spacecraft to troubleshoot the issue.

In early September, engineers successfully turned off three devices on the Voyager 1 spacecraft and substituted them with three lower-power alternatives.

Nicknamed the “Big Bang,” the energy-saving effort was completed about six weeks after the mission team performed the same swap on Voyager 2. The Big Bang will enable Voyager 1’s remaining science instruments to operate longer than previously anticipated.

The Voyagers get their power from radioisotope thermoelectric generators, which convert heat from decaying plutonium into electricity.

With the plutonium supply continually depleting, both probes lose about 4 watts of power each year. Almost a half-century since Voyager launched, the spacecraft power margins have grown thin, requiring the team to conserve energy by shutting off nonessential devices and systems.

The Big Bang was unique because it required the swaps to occur simultaneously.

The six devices help keep the spacecraft warm enough to operate in the frigid expanse of space, and only by swapping all three could the team both reduce the amount of power Voyager 1 uses and ensure that heat is properly distributed on the spacecraft.

Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kans., this week said that President Donald Trump's decision to cancel a planned rally in Kansas this weekend was the result of his strong polling performance.

Marshall is facing an unexpectedly close race for reelection in a typically red state. His contest against Democratic nominee Adam Hamilton is set for Tuesday.

Trump abruptly canceled a rally with Marshall in favor of virtual events, which Marshall told reporters was because “I think that I’m doing so well in the polls that he’s got, probably got better places to spend his time."

The party of the president typically loses ground during the midterms, but Trump has sought to defy historical trends and retain control of both chambers. Polling, however, appears skeptical of that prospect.

Ghostly Cat’s Head Nebula Lurks Within Sight of NASA’s Hubble, Webb

Like a spectral form rising out of a cold mist, NASA’s Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes have captured a hauntingly dynamic star-forming scene. It lies within the vast Carina Nebula, a diffuse star-forming region located about 7,500 light-years away from Earth.

The small, select area both telescopes observed is nicknamed the Cat’s Head Nebula because of its resemblance to a cat sitting with its back toward the viewer. The “head” of the cat is turned to the right, revealing a glowing eye.

Though the Cat’s Head Nebula is a temporary scene that will eventually disperse as stars form and evolve over time, the region is packed with information.

Hubble and Webb’s complementary views of the Cat’s Head Nebula are helping astronomers learn more about the elusive, chaotic, and complex process known as star formation.

The distinctive “cat’s head” shape of the nebula was likely sculpted over time by the intense ultraviolet radiation and winds from massive stars in the Carina Nebula.

As this stellar feedback erodes the surrounding gas and dust, denser material within the feline-shaped pillar resists erosion, at least for now.

Hubble’s visible-light view reveals an opaque, dark brown pillar of dust. The cat’s glowing red eye may indicate a young star that is still partially embedded in dust.

A ridge of hazy yellow seems to follow the edge of the filament’s right side. This bright rim is consistent with gas illuminated and ionized by ultraviolet radiation from nearby massive stars, potentially driving a process known as photoevaporation.

The diffuse material surrounding the pillar glows blue and cyan above, shifting to yellow, orange, and red toward the bottom.

Hubble’s filters capture light emitted by oxygen, hydrogen, and sulfur, along with starlight scattered by dust. These color variations reveal a complex mix of excited gas, dust, and stellar illumination.

Piercing Through Dust’s Darkness

Webb’s near- and mid-infrared images each offer different pieces of information to help create a more well-rounded understanding of the Cat’s Head Nebula.

While the nebula’s overall structure is similar to the visible-light Hubble image, the filament becomes more transparent, and its complex surface structure becomes discernable in near-infrared light seen by Webb.

On the cat’s left are ghostly wisps of dust and gas, delicate structures exposed to radiation from nearby massive stars.

Webb’s near-infrared view reveals a dense scattering of stars, shown in blue and yellow. Even in infrared light, some stars are still enshrouded in dust to various degrees.

The cat’s eye remains conspicuous. The telescope’s high-resolution imagery even shows faint background galaxies, offering a partial view through our Milky Way galaxy and beyond.

In mid-infrared light, emission from warm dust and carbon-based molecules excited by starlight outlines intricate structures within the nebula.

Changes in local conditions and compositions lead to variations in color and brightness. Delicate globules and strands to the pillar’s left are particularly evident in this mid-infrared view.

To the right of the pillar, a bright light source is shown as yellow in the mid-infrared image.

Likely an infant star embedded in dust, it lies against reddish emission from surrounding material. A narrow filament appears to cross the source, although the image alone cannot establish whether the two are physically related.

NASA astronaut reveals reason he is convinced aliens exist as he warns of possible war in space

A NASA astronaut has publicly said that extraterrestrial life exists during an interview where he warned of a possible military showdown in space.

Winston Scott, who flew on two space shuttle missions in the 1990s, told Jesse Watters Primetime he was confident humans were not the only intelligent life in the cosmos.

'I do believe there is life someplace else out there in the universe. Now, whether or not it’s visiting us here on Earth or not is a topic of discussion. I think E.T. is out there some place,' Scott said.

Scott explained that the math surrounding the search for extraterrestrials overwhelmingly favored their existence, simply because there are billions of planets in the universe – some must have evolved similar to Earth.

'We can’t be the only one that has intelligent life,' he added.

Scott's comments came days after the Pentagon released a new batch of declassified UFO files, including reports from witnesses who claimed they saw beings known as ‘skinwalkers’ and government agents who tracked a mysterious craft over the US.

The astronaut also gave a grim warning about the current state of America's space race with China and Russia, noting that weapons have already been placed in orbit above Earth and may be needed in a war between the world powers.

'We live in a world where we have to be prepared to defend ourselves militarily. We hope we don’t see conflict and combat in space but I would not rule it out,' Scott admitted.
